My son's public school curriculum is lacking in spelling, as in they do not cover spelling in any form. Instead of complaining about it I took it upon myself to order this book and work at home with him. The lessons cover basic spelling patterns and skills-exactly what I was looking for. He can read well, so he is able to work through this independently. He enjoys the lessons and his spelling has improved. There are a few lessons that require the use of a dictionary (not provided) but I don't see that as a negative. If you are looking to supplement or refresh skills, I recommend this workbook. The actual spelling words used in the lessons aren't necessarily challenging but the focus is on spelling patterns-not memorizing a spelling list.
Great book for my five year old ESL tutee who already knows how to read. This book will stretch his spelling skills and help him expand his vocabulary for oral and reading/composition purposes. This book is really cute, and I believe Diego will love the games he will play along the way to a broader base of English language.Thank you for this book. I also think Diego's older brother can learn about English language tense from this book as well.
