I Wish there was some way I could have given this a riating of 4 3/4. The only thing that could have made this story more perfect would have been for it to have been a full novel. This story line, as all of Emma Morgan's stories, was based on a time in America's history that was in truth NOT "Politically Correct" and for anyone to suggest that a story of that time to be written to fit the "new" version of what the Left wants to hear is just WRONG. I would have loved to have read more of the story of Anna's life, and those of the other characters
ANNA Carpenter was a dress maker like her mother, and they were busy as can be. Her mother took ill with tuberculosis and had to move to New York to stay in a place to get well. Their shop was sold and their home rented and Anna was to go to oregon to marry a,Walter Church. Nearly reaching her destination she was taken by an Indian brave who spoke English she was to be held to make piece for their tribe from the town of Lakeview. ANNA fell in love with the tribe and mostly with Mingan (Grey Wolf). She did not want to go to Oakview if they could treat the Indians so badly and kill so many of the tribe who just wanted to live in peace. This is a good story and I highly recommend it.
First of all, good writing for the most part, I was happy to actually be able to make sense of the conversations being had, BUT I wasn't a huge fan of how the Conversations seemed to be portrayed between both parties. Two of the main characters had both been in two tramatizing situations, one giving up her family to be with a complete stranger to only be taken hostage, the other having his beloved slaughtered by invaders. I feel like there should of been some resentment at first, not good manners and immediate friendship. Also, I found myself completely lost with what my characters apperence was besides hair color, eyes and a scar. Overall, I think this story could be 5 stars, but with a little more detail and truthfulness... H
I did enjoy the story, but it was too short! Would've enjoyed more details of the people and the surrounding areas.
Apparently there was some hoopla about this book..... I can not in any way see why there was !!!!!!!!! I thought the story was sweet and almost typical thank you Emma for another wonderful story
I enjoyed this book very much. It captured my attention from the start. And I did not see anything prejudice or racist about it.
