This is the best spelling workbook I have ever found! It begins with phonics activities, such as writing in the first consonant, last consonant, or middle vowel of each word. It progresses from there to traditional spelling lists, each list being based around a certain sound or spelling rule. The activities that go along with each lesson are fantastic and perfect for the age level. The kids write the words in letter boxes, fill in the blanks in sentences, alphabetize their words, and so forth. My son feels like a "writing expert" because he can successfully complete the activities and remember how to spell each word for the end-of-week test.
This book is great it has phonics. Letter sound and recognition in the initial, middle, and ending position. while teaching spelling. It has great picture cues which is very helpful for my daughter with autism. Can not think of any negatives for this book.
I do this with my daughters every day to get them to recognize patterns in reading/spelling. It's structured and colorful & my girls love doing these pages. Simple enough that they can figure it out, yet teaching them the basics in ways they don't even realize!
My daughter was having trouble in school with spelling. This book she enjoys and picks it up and does it by herself. It is very helpful and she is having fun learning without realizing it.
I thought this would give her more of a chance to spell....she is just tracing letters and filling in the blanks...but it does get better
It's ok they want kids to know how to use a dictionary and alphabetical order which we haven't gone over that yet so I just skipped those pages. But for the price it's ok.
