I have found this little booklet very helpful in preparing a series of Sunday School discussions on the topic of wisdom. Most of the people in our class are retired, but not all. This booklet uses several examples from the Old Testament, and a few from the New Testament, to illustrate how Bible characters demonstrate both wisdom and folly. Each lesson is a few pages, mostly of well formed study questions, to be sure you engage the passage - which is usually about 10 to 15 verses long. There are also good personal reflection and group discussion questions to help start the discussion and finish it with personal application. Spanning the Bible as it does helps keep things interesting from one lesson to the next. It will help if the leader has background with the entire Bible so they can set the story context in some detail as the scenes and centuries change from lesson to lesson. The booklet provides only minimal story background so experience as a Bible teacher is helpful, but not absolutely required, to lead from this booklet. There is a set of leader notes in the back and these are accessible to leader and other group members alike (same book for both). We did not use these much, but the few I have seen looked pretty good.My favorite lesson is from 1Kings 12 where Rehoboam fails to listen to his elders and instead takes more reckless advise from his young peers. This choice based on pride and comfort is all too common in most everyone's experience and it usually leads to trouble as it did for Israel in Rehoboam's time. The booklet is good in choosing lesser studied passages such as this as well as better known ones from the life of Moses, Paul and others.
