Clinebell's book is a detailed guide to help ministers and seminary students develop maximum skills in basic caring and counseling techniques. I am neither a minister nor a seminary student, but I find his identification of basic spiritual needs pertinent today, in both my personal and professional life. Satisfying spiritual needs strengthens our connection with God, our fellow human beings, Mother Earth and our inner selves, our souls. We cannot satisfy our spiritual needs in isolation. The book identifies different view from psychotherapy and counseling. It provided me with insights about my own spiritual growth.
This is a very good book for counselors and caregivers of all types. This book is a very good clinical book in the understanding of human behavor and perhaps, helping to name crisis and provide intervention that may be appropiate for the situation. From the reading I have become open and affirming and more sensative of people and persons with different lifestyles. This is a very important read for the psychologist, pastor caregiver and liscensed therapist. Thank you!
This was a rare textbook wherein one could "hit a groove" of material that seemed so useful and immediately practical that putting the book down would have seemed a misservice to humanity.
