After borrowing this book from the library for 4 months straight, I decided to buy it for my 5 year old as a Christmas gift. She lives, eats, breathes animals & nature and has spent hours and hours in this book. The pictures are big and beautiful and the descriptions are very well written, nothing dry and boring here. In fact, while reading this with her, my husband and I have learned so much more than we ever imagined! We have borrowed every conceivable nature book from the library and this one, and several other DK animal encyclopedias, are our hands-down favorites!

Primarily bought as a gift for my 5 yr old nephew, I spent a considerable amount of time pouring over this book. A neat thing about this book is the wealth of information coupled with attractive, colorful pictures opening up the world of nature.

This is a great book -- I tend to love the DK books anyway, but this is definitely one to have on your shelf. For all of us nature-challenged moms, this is a great one for helping the kids (whether you homeschool them or not!) understand God's creation! We love this one ... just wish it was spiral bound

We use this book for homeschooling and it is fantastic. Kids are naturally interested in learning about living things and this book does a great job of teaching. It has excellent photos and illustrations and good content. DK makes another book for the younger reader but I'd say this one is suitable for 5th grade and older. You won't be disappointed by this book!
