Originally, I read about this series in National Geographic Travel. I bought the London book as a gift for a seven year old who is a certified Harry Potter fan and, as a result, becoming quite the junior anglophile. While this may not be an up-to-date trip to London (some of the landmarks mentioned are no longer there), it sparks the imagination and whets the young traveler's appetite. The illustrations are fun and it doesn't stay on the shelf long at our house.

My son (7-year-old now) has been reding this series since age 4 every time we visited a new city. We have London, Paris and San Francisco books. They are all brilliant to read pre-trip and post-trip. Although cities have chnaged over the years, the books give a very good feel of the cities. They also give footnotes of updates. Not only my son enjoys them enormously, but my husband and myself learned a lot from the series. Highly recommended.

Exclamations come to mind: beautiful design and drawings, comprehensive and to the point guide! And this goes for all his city guides Paris, Rome, Venice and Hong Kong. You might argue it is a bit old fashioned, but I think you are confusing it with "it s one of the Classics". And when something is called a Classic, it is timeless and a Must-Have! Trust me, it is worth your while and money!

One of my favourite artists. I have most of the series now, however, I was very let down with the quality and colour of the editions I have received from - the colours are dull, printed on dull paper. I have an edition of "This is San Francisco" which I purchased many years ago, printed in Germany, and the colours are clear and bright - the books I received from , printed in China are disappointing.

Fabulous book with a vintage feel to the illustrations, overall cute, fun and informative for kids. Have decided to collect the other books in this series as I think this will make a wonderful collection for my kids to refer back to and enjoy as they grow.

as amazing for adults as children, a must have for your kids library. i only wish they were up to date throughout, they do give you the updates at the end of the book, but i wish it was all the way through. overall - LOVE THEM!! everyone that sees them in my library adores them...

YES love this!! If you like older books, then you will love this! If you are looking for a super colorful book that has lots of action, maybe you won't enjoy this as much. I love the simplicity of it and it describes what it's like. I've never been to London, so I'm hoping it's accurate. I have to admit, that I loved the cover and that's what drew me to buying it. :)

I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the material and the content. This book arrived an hour ago and is an instant favorite with our kids from our twenty month old to our seven year old and their parents. I ordered a few others from the series and hope they are similar.
