As a Chinese mom, I buy lots of workbooks for my children. These include Kumon, Singapore, and quite a few others. I am not trying to recommend a specific book company (most of them are decent), but rather to un-recommend the Sprectrum workbooks (I bought 3 of them, all for 6 grade math).1. Books are thin on content - pages are sparsely populated2. Questions are too easy3. Answers have mistake, and the font is often too small to read without a magnifying glassAvoid at any price
I am having hard time reading the answers from the Answer Key at the back of the book. The answers are typed in very tiny letters, even difficult for someone with good eye sight. I don't understand why Spectrum would cut corners on Answer Key section.
My daughter was having a lot of troubles with fractions and any concepts regarding fractions. We've worked our way through this book together and she now understands fractions pretty well at a 6th grade level. This is definitely a book for reviewing concepts, but it does the job quite well.
