This book greatly increased my devotion to the Blessed Sacrament during Holy Hours. I am a 22 year old college student and loved how the book was easy to follow along with strong quotes by saints daily. This book even encouraged me to make Spiritual Communion daily even after daily Mass in order to increase my love for the Eucharist. The book also has how to incorporate Our Blessed Mother into the Eucharist, as she is the Ark of the Covenant carrying Our Lord in Her Womb.Amazing saint, amazing book. How could one go wrong with the Blessed Sacrament and Our Lady?
St. Alphonsus Liguori's brief book is perhaps the premier devotional aid for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.With a guide on how to make a visit, a prayer before each visit, 31 meditations (one for each day of the month), a suggested spiritual communion, 31 intercessions to the Blessed Virgin, and a prayer to her after each visit, the book is sure to deepen the devotion and meditation of anyone who uses it. All of the prayers and meditations are brief but meaningful.The format allows repeated use, month after month, year after year, as the reader/prayer comes ever closer to Our Lord and his mother. I have used it for years, and it is continually revealing additional depths. It never grows stale.Very highly recommended.
What a blessing it is to read the short passages in this pocket-sized book each time I visit the Holy Eucharist. There's a reading for each day of the month, plus simple instructions on how to pray the way the Saint Alphosus must have. This little gem also helps to remind the adorer to properly venerate Mary at the close of each visit. A great blessing for such a small expense!
I thought this book was real helpful. I read it every time I visit theBlessed Sacrament and the Virgin Mary. I feel every Catholic should have one in their library. It is a very easy read.
To repeat myself again and again, anything written by St Alphonsus Liguori is remarkable and outstanding. He is, after all, a Saint and a Doctor of the Catholic Church. This small booklet is quite extraordinary and very well written and a must have companion for visits to the Blessed Sacrament. I also thought so much of this booklet that I bought several more copies to hand out to my friends. Do I like this booklet? You bet, and I believe once you use it for your visit to the Blessed Sacrament you will be back for more writings by St Alphonsus. Also see his booklets – “What Will Hell Be Like?” and “How to Converse Familiarly and Continuously with God”
If you already have love for the Blessed Sacrament, this book--which really isn't a novena but is followed each time you stop by a Catholic Church to pray before the Lord in the tabernacle--is a wonderful prayer guide, which leads you into asking for more graces to love Jesus in the real presence of the Eucharist. If this devotion is taken seriously, you will find that the Holy Spirit in each of the book's sessions speaks to something going on in your life. Would recommend it if you don't have the daily discipline for or are forgetful with novenas. This prayer book seems to pull you to visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and you can't wait to spend your next time with Him.
I did not think that I would like this book because St Alphonsus Ligori's books are very difficult to read. I love it. I went to daily Mass for over 20 years and now I am a shut-in. There is a section in this book for people like me who long for and hunger for the Eucharist but are unable to get out of the house.
"Be Still My Soul" is what I think of when I use this book. St. Alphonsus has some wonderful prayers for us to reflect on during our visits to the Blessed Sacrament. He also has prayers for visiting Our Lady, and has numbered each of them for us. It is a whole month of prayers numbered daily. Or you can just use them however you wantThis is what I do.
