I love how Deborah Heal incorporates the Gospel message into the story without being pushy and preachy. It just seems like a natural progression in the development of Merrideth's character, plus the influence of her friends who show unconditional love for her, regardless of her state of mind. Merrideth is driven to time surf in order to research history and publish for her career. But time surfing takes its toll on her emotions and relationships, and leaves her empty and depressed. When she reaches her breaking point, she realizes that she needs to seek forgiveness and more importantly, accept forgiveness. Sets up a perfect transition for the next installment of the series!
Deborah Heal is one of my new favorite writers right up there with Jan Karon, Beverly Lewis, Diane Mott Davidson, and several others. This series is easy to read because it's so interesting. History is fun to learn again. When they (the characters) part or a door closes I want to knock on the door and say, "Excuse me but do you mind continuing?" Although each story can stand on it's own I highly recommend you start at the very beginning and read all the books in order for a delightful fun filled time of unending adventure.
This is the fourth book in the Rewinding Time series. Throughout this series, we get to know Meredith, Brett and various other characters. Merri has a computer program which allows her to go virtually back in time to see history unfold. In "A Matter of Time" Merri and her colleague Brett have the opportunity to go back to see Charles Dickens when he visited their town.I have read this whole series now and really enjoyed it. I have enjoyed getting to know the characters as well as visit different times in history. Even if you don't enjoy history, I believe you would like this book. Deborah Heal does a great job of bringing history to life through the everyday lives of the people. It definitely doesn't read like a history book! Along side the "time" journey, we also follow Merri on her Spiritual journey. She is unsure of all the claims of Christianity and we see her struggle to understand. overall, an excellent book. Can I hope there will be one more book? I want to know what happens!
Yes please! All the best things wrapped up in a nice, clean story! Not so riveting that I can't put it down (I'd stay up all night) so it's the best! Thank you thank you thank you! She's my new favorite author! Okay, maybe not #1 ;-) but definitely in the top 5 and I love to read so that's saying something! Thank you!
Just finished this tonight. It's another book I couldn't put down. I'm attached to these characters and find myself waiting for the next book so I can go on with them. I also learned a lot about one of my favorite authors, Charles Dickens in this book. It was fascinating to learn some of his history alongside the story line of Brett and Merrrideth.Another great read!
I have enjoyed the entire series and wish the next book was ready now. It is a faith-filled series, if you don't like stories that include Jesus and the Christian belief; you need to read other books. Deborah does a great job and the history is captivating. Well researched! Thank you for your hard work.
I've finished the entire time series. I loved them all and the only draw back is that I will be missing the characters now. Good news is that I own them all and I can go back for a visit. I can't see how you wouldn't love them. Happy reading!
Oh no! I was not ready for it t o end. Deborah did an outstanding job with this series of books. I loved them so much that I am sorry that there is only one more in series. Seriously if you have not started on the road to reading the Rewind series, you need to. You have everything _ mystery, Romance, some history, and better yet the need to give your life to Christ.
