An observation that may be considered mildly negative is that some of the exercises could use better examples and explanations. Additionally, I would have likes to have seen more problems for practicing the more difficult concepts that a fifth grader encounters; fractions and fraction/decimal relationships along with presenting statistics need to be addressed in a more comprehensive manner. I realize that this is not a teaching text, it's an exercise book that attempts to cover a lot of ground in a general sense, and in that view it does a decent job. The book is laid out well and is definitely one of the better ones we have purchased. Take note though that many of the pages contained are identical to the ones in smaller collections - even though they are from different publishers; I believe that "Math: Grade 5 (Master Skills)" is such a book, although not nearly as comprehensive as this one. This is definitely a good bang for the buck.
I added this to our homeschooling routine as I am not great with math myself and I needed something that would give good clear instructions (in case I can't remember my 5th grade math) for the kiddos to follow. We've been very pleased with this workbook!
This book is easy to follow and it gives a lot of practice which the student could use.I would recommend this book any time.
