Have two two-year-old grandsons (daughters gave birth same week!). They both love Elmo. They both celebrate Chanukah. Book looked perfect. But it is very, very short, shorter than most of their other board books.
I purchased Elmo's Little Dreidel (Sesame Street). The book is a small board book like many of Sesame Street's children's board books. I bought this book for a toddler aged 3 year old child. My niece loved this book I gave it to her as a gift since she loves Elmo and to help her get in touch with her Jewish traditions from an early age. The book helped to simply explain how to play dreidel and she learned very quickly. It also explained about Hanukkah and the different important aspects that occur during this time. The book is also very easy to read and understand.
My son (2.5) insist on us reading this to him at least every other night. He likes the themes of sharing and cooperation. It's also a good way to begin explaining how to play dreidle.
This made a wonderful gift to a small child along with Plush Hanukkah Dreidel and Plush Hanukkah Bear. It’s a simple, short story that has Susie and Gil showing Elmo how to play the dreidel. The pictures are charming and the story also shows the fun of sharing and playing together.The little toddler loves this book (and Elmo) and wants it read to him almost every night. It helped him to learn to play with his dreidel and have fun with his family.
We bought 3 books for the kids (2 and 4) and this is the one we have all liked best. Dreidel is the best part of Hanukkah and it explains it simply. I like having multiple books, so that others can focus on other aspects of the holiday - candle lighting, etc. I would definitely recommend that this be one of your collection.
Our 2 1/2 year old son has just started to understand the meaning of the holidays this year. He loves this book. It covers all of the important aspects of Hanukkah (or, at least the ones that he understands)- the food, the presents, the dreidel, and family time.
I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old. The content of the story was right on for the audience. Maybe it was over the 2 year old's head or beneath the 4 year old's. Either way, a great way to learn about playing Dreidel.
My 16 month old daughter is obsessed with Elmo, and we celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas so this was a nice little board book for her. The story is cute and the pictures are nice -- nothing extraordinary, and it does get old for an adult to read over and over -- but a nice introduction to some holiday traditions. Plus, you can never go wrong with Elmo! My daughter is still making us read this to her daily even though it is the end of January!
