This book barely describes what Sunday School is exactly. Long and rambly about hymns, mama "dragging" the family to church, a story about Noahs ark, and getting in trouble with the teacher. Too jokey.
I loved these books when I was a little girl and was so happy to introduce them to my daughter now as she is learning to read and is learning basic manners. I love the inclusion of bible verses and about basic manners and kindness that everyone should show regardless of age. This book was a great way to describe what Sunday School is and what to expect from Sunday School to my four year old. I love how very down to earth the cubs are, easily relatable to a normal perfectly imperfect child ;). They do a great job of storytelling of explaining how kids would feel in this situation and they do a fantastic job of teaching a lesson to young children.The Berenstein Bears are once again a part of my library. Thank you for keeping up the standard of excellence in these books :) .
What a wonderful this story is and so true to many a family life. The Berenstain Bears have always been wonderful, but the Go to Sunday School story is a great one to share and explain to family how great going to church and Sunday School can be, even for a bear. :)I highly recommend this story for families, especially those with kids ages 4-7. This and all the other Berenstain Bear books, especially the newest ones coming from Mike Berenstain, son to the creators Jan and Stan. How busy is your life? Can you find time for church and Sunday School as a family?
My 6 year old said "I like this book and you will too!" I would agree. It has a great story line for kids about how busy life can be but hoe important church is. My daughter is still singing the song.
I recommend this book for all kids so they can be encouraged to atten church and learn what Jesus is all about. They will also make new friends and have good support that they may not receive at home unfortunately. Praise God for these books!
Compared to other Berenstain bears books, the new ones by Mike Berenstain have a lot of words and can get a little boring and mundane. They also don't start with the clever little rhyme like his parents did. They still teach the lesson but it's a little bit over kill and if you are reading these at bedtime (like myself) suddenly your reading time is quite a bit longer, so instead of 2 books you may only have time for 1.
It's a cute little book. I'm happy to add it to my classroom collection. Kids at church love it too. I like the questions and activities on the last page of the book. I love Berenstain Bears!
