As mentioned in some other reviews, this set is a hard cardboard folder with 8 paperback Little Miss books inside. Inside the folder are 8 lighter-weight cardboard sleeves in which the books are stored. It's very cute, and I liked it enough that 2 days after we received our own, I ordered a second one as a gift for a little friend turning 4. It really is perfect to give as a gift or starter set. (And at a much better price than buying 8 of the books individually!) Also, of course, we love the books themselves - fun characters, stories, and lessons for young children. All that being said, one thing to know: While my 3-year-old can take the books out of the folder, she cannot easily put them back in. (Neither can I, for that matter.) I ended up taking the books out and putting the folder away for now, so the little sleeves wouldn't get torn up from her trying to cram the books in. But that's completely ok for us - I'll get the folder back out in a few years, and I'm sure it'll be a great keepsake for her later.
I can still remember sitting in my room listening to a cassette tape (dating myself) while reading Little Miss Sunshine. These books are charming and timeless. I was thrilled to find this boxed set when looking for some Mr. Men and Little Miss books for my daughter. It can get a bit pricy when buying each book individually (local toystore sells them for $3.95 each) and this was a great price for 8 books. If you want to share the nostalgia of Little Miss, buying this set is the way to do it. The books are paperback and come in a fold out package. My daughter loves reading the books and their small size makes them perfect for throwing in a purse, diaper bag, or backpack.
I remember reading these books as a kid, so imagine my excitement when I saw this box set when I was looking for Little Miss books for my daughter (who I have dubbed "Little Miss Chatterbox").We had so much fun reading these books together, giggling the entire time. The simple illustrations coupled with the clean, large font text are actually more appealing for my little one (age 5) than more hefty, elaborately illustrated books. The books in this box set are smaller than the ones that you buy individually, and they each come in their own little slot with a pink envelope (in case you would like to gift a book to someone), a nice touch.I can't wait to purchase additional sets!
This is my 'go to' gift for all baby showers and toddler b-day parties. My children grew up on these books and argue about who is going to inherit the collection when I'm gone.
While I love the stories and illustrations just fine, I don't particularly like this set. The box is too big to stand upright next to the other kids books on the bookshelf and too long to turn sideways. The books are paperback and pretty flimsy. If I had the chance again I'd buy them in hardcover.
The presentation of this book is wonderful. It's a folder with pockets for each book and an envelope to post each book in, although we are keeping ours. It does look like a much more upscale present than the price would make you assume.
Very good quality books, after reading a review on a blog about these series, i wanted to order these easy elementary school reading books for my 6 yr old neice, she loved it, i didnt know they were used, no rip, no markings. I recommend these books for girls who love to read but just small books. They can finish each inLess than 5 mins.
I read these books to my daughter a couple decades ago and we shared a lot of laughter with them even while learning subtle lessons about kindness, happiness, sharing, neatness etc. I purchased these, and the complementary Mr. Men collection, for my niece that's four and a half; hopefully she and her parents (and little brother) will love them as much as we did.
