This is an excellent book about the teaching Jesus gave the disciples regarding End Times. The book is divided into two parts. Part 1: Warnings and Part 2 Instructions. The In Part 1 the warnings are: Do not be deceived, do not be troubled, do not be confused, and do not be beguiled. For example, three times in Matthew 24 Jesus warns the disciples about the deception to come indicating it will be convincing and widespread. Jeremiah offers wisdom about how to prepare and not be deceived. Jesus also tells the disciples not to be troubled in spite of the fact there will be famines and pestilence and earthquakes. Jeremiah gives stunning statistics on the increase in earthquakes over the centuries.He says: “In the tenth century, there were 32 earthquakes. In the fifteenth century, there were 378. But in the nineteenth century, there were 2,119 earthquakes. There has been just as drastic an increase in intensity as there has been in frequency. Ten of the thirteen most devastating earthquakes of all time have occurred in the twentieth century. Of some 68 major earthquakes recorded in history, 46 have occurred in our century.” Jeremiah warns us not to try to figure the date though it’s obviously getting closer than ever before.In Part 2 the instructions are: Do business until I come, evangelize until I come, edify one another until I come, pursue your reward until I come and live in hope until I come. Each chapter gives us the words of Jesus to his disciples preparing them for his return. Jeremiah also notes what Jesus did not say. For example, “He didn’t say remember to work of for justice and visualize world peace.” The final chapter on Hope is especially valuable with thoughts about how we remain hopeful in the midst of dire circumstances.
