This is the first time I've been disappointed with the series. It's not that the story is bad, it isn't at all. But an entire third of book 4 has nothing to do with the story at all. Things just start getting good at like page 215, you think there's still quite a bit to go and suddenly it's a pointless back story of a minor character for 80 pages, then what seems like a fanfic about characters not even in the story anymore.
Preacher book 4 is the most spectacular in the series thus far. Ennis brings all the major players in the story together for an epic throw-down that MUST be read to be believed. It also throws in a great flashback for Starr, easily the best backstory chapter in the whole series. Check. It. Out.
If you love the show, youll love this better....if you didnt love the show, but are a fan of graphic novels, i would still say that this is definitely worth reading. the art is amazing and the writing is great too.
I'm kidding. Preacher is one of my favorite comics of all time. This one pushes the envelope being good taste, so if you're reading this and PC is a big thing in your life, pass. If not, well Jesse, tulip, Cassidy, Starr and more are back. Among with sacrilege, cannibalism, nuclear weapons and... that would be telling. Just another great volume in the preacher series.
Read on Kindle FireWell worth the money with over 300 pages of great art and storyline. Wouldn't say it's the best volume of the series, but well worth the read. If you've read this far, you're hooked already so keep going. This one gives some background character development but has some twists too.
From the very first issue, Preacher captivated me in a way few graphic novels have. I read every single issue of this story within a matter of weeks, I could not get enough. The story follows Jesse, a preacher in Texas, who gets invoked with a spirit that may make him the most powerful being in existence. The characters are beautifully flawed, the themes of religion, right and wrong, are mixed with Movie Westerns and Secret Societies. Once you start Preacher, you are in it for the whole 75 issues. You will be glad you went on this journey! The hardcovers are beautiful and a must-have for you to enjoy reading over and over again.
if you know what this is, it's more of the peerlessly brilliant same.if you don't, remedy this immediately. start at book one.preacher is about as good as these things get.
Great series but the current publication run is in Books not Volumes and is complete at Book 6. Don't make my mistake and order older volumes 7 - 9 thinking you need them to complete the saga.
