Ebooks Online

When Jacob Portman was a boy, his grandfather regaled him with stories of his fantastic life at Miss Peregrine's home during the Second World War, even sharing photos of the remarkable children with whom he resided. As Jacob grew up, though, he decided that these photos were obvious fakes, simple forgeries designed to stir up his youthful imagination. Or were they...?Following his grandfather's death - a scene Jacob literally couldn't believe with his own eyes - the sixteen-year-old boy embarks on a mission to disentangle fact from fiction in his grandfather's tall tales. But even his grandfather's elaborate yarns couldn't prepare Jacob for the eccentricities he will discover at Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children!

After reading the novel I was just so curious about the graphic novel version that I had to buy it which was interesting for all of about 5 mins. The artwork and detail are impressive but the novel conveys the story much better as well as infusing the story with the sinister quality that just makes it so fun!

After all this comic is pretty cool. It leaves out some important details but after all th art is cool and they did a pretty good job. Just a tip for further readers is that it helps a lot if you read the book book before this because it helps you understand it more.

the original book is so amazing - but I felt I lost so much with the graphic novel. no pictures really, and the severity of the situation, the character development, and the writing is all missing. seems almost like a plot sketch, instead of the book I love so much

Another great adaptation, though it's definitely lacking the rich detail of the novel. I wouldn't recommend reading this unless you've already read the novel - I'd fear that it would put you off the book. (Although I suppose it could peak your interest and make you want to read the novel!)This edition gives a great overview of the plot. It's the children that get left on the wayside - in the novel we're introduced to many children and there's a lot of detail about their talents. In this version, mainly Emma and Millard showcase their talents, and even that is at a minimum. The danger of the situation also feels downplayed. But, having already read the novel, this book was a great refresher for the sequel that's coming out soon, and I really loved the art style. It was edgy and the colors simplistic, but I enjoyed looking at each page

I liked this book but I must say in all honesty I didn't like it nearly as well as the original novel. In my opinion it left out a lot of details and just wasn't as good. My 9 year old daughter tried to read this one and was absolutely terrified. The graphics were exactly as you would expect them to be so that was my fault. If you have younger children I wouldn't recommend it but if you have one possibly jr. High age who likes graphic novels it should be a good fit. If a person hasn't read the original novel I'm sure they would enjoy the book very much. You do get the overall story line from this version and what a fabulous unbelievable story it is. I would recommend it for older youth and adults.

I've been a Miss Peregrine fan for quite a while, and I've always wanted to get this graphic novel version. And wow, is it lovely! The artwork is beautiful, and the colors on all the pages are so vibrant. It was really fun being able to see this visual rendering of one of my favorite books!

I have to admit, I didn't like this graphic novel at first. I had really high hopes for it since this is one of my favorite book series. I thought the artwork looked rushed and sketchy (literally). However, after a few pages, I started to like the simple style. Once Jacob entered the loop, I was officially in love with it! Now I wish I had just gone with my gut and purchased this book rather than waiting to get it from the library. I will be purchasing it in the near future!!However, I would definitely recommend that a person read the actual book before the graphic novel because (obviously) quite a bit is left out and you don't really get to know all of the characters.I cannot wait to get my hands on the second graphic novel!

This Graphic Novel version of the book just brings the world of the peculiar children to life. I love the images and it is a great way to sort of review the first novel without having to actually read it.I review this book, along with the novel version of it and the new book Hollow City in my recent vlog on youtube that you can find here: [...]
