This book is fabulous! I didn't pay attention to the size of the book and it's quite large. About the size of a spiral notebook but thicker and sturdier. That's perfectly fine with me but just keep that in mind. These activities are great. The graphics are fun and are great for boy or girl. I can't wait for my daughter to use this book.
My grandchildren used these books yesterday for the first time and LOVE THEM!! Their mom was happy they were more quiet and less wiggly. Their father, the Pastor, was super impressed with this book!! Love the content. The kids are excite to earn points and really connected with the prayer list section! Thank you for this book!!
So it was actually my 11 year old son who first opened this Busy Books: Sermon Notes. And it was his immediate response that sold me right on the spot, "Look, Mom! This is a book for kids like me, to help make church interesting!" He could hardly wait to get started and that's all I needed to know. This is a fabulous idea and very well put together. We are absolutely going to be using - and enjoying - this wonderful book in our family!
I appreciate the effort to make a great books to engaged children in the preaching of God'd word. However I found that words like sin and salvation weren't included in the list of words to hunt for. I have my children add those in. Points are a great incentive for children.
It's a good book to help with kid's attention in a church service. My 7-year old daughter did her first one last Sunday and enjoyed it. It has places to mark the date, write the favorite song that service, fill in bubbles with words that were heard, places to draw or color, questions a child has about things that were said or done, places to draw, and other topics just for kids.
What a great idea! My son is really enjoying these as the "earning points" idea appeals to his competitive spirit and this encourages him to pay attention during the services and also gives space for his doodles and thoughts. The only change I would make would be to have this a spiral binding instead of the current binding.
I love the whole idea behind this book to keep kids engaged and attentive during church-8 years and up like it says. It has great components-everything from a place to write their favorite song, the Scriptures, key words to listen for, check off lists, and even a place to doodle. I love it, but I would suggest a little smaller size. Many kids carry around a small Bible, and this book is large. I know it's to fit everything, but maybe the type and items could be made slightly smaller to decrease the size of the book.
My six year old granddaughter is enjoying this book every Sunday evening as she sits in church with us. She fills out the three pages and totals her points to see if she reaches the goal I set for her of 50 points. She is now finding something in the message she does not understand, and asking good questions. (Most six year olds will not be ready for this book.)
