I use this for a class at church. It only takes about 30 minutes. I feel that we learn from it and the questions also help you gear it towards you life today. Perhaps it could go a bit deeper. However, on some of the women that would probably be harder.
This is an easy to understand, yet insightful study of the women of the Old Testement. Each lesson focuses on on characteristic that makes that particular woman stand out. It also helps the student to see themselves in light of that characteristic. I would recommend it to both beginning and advanced Bible Students.
You will meet some women you didn't know before. An excellent book for individual or group study.I led a bible class on this topic and have found this little book to be a very valuable resource. Especially in the area of thought provoking questions to present in class on each woman. . The author reviews several different women of the Old Testament - their strengths and weaknesses - and challenges the readers to apply lessons learned. The lessons are short - 2/3 pages of small fill in the blanks You can easily accomplish Bible study, coffee & fellowship & prayer within a 90 minute period ... although there were a couple of weeks when we got so into the lesson that we spent 2-1/2 hours!! They don't give you much room for writing answers so I would advise a notebook of some kind (spiral bound or 3 ring binder) as well for this study
I have had the joy in my lifetime, to have known the authors of these books, have appreciated their walks in faith. They have been of great encouragement for me in learning to "walk by faith", to gain a deeper experience, as I spend time in my Bible. Gladys, known to her friends as "Rusty", was one of many friends, who were a gift from God, to me. She has now entered her heavenly home, the place she longed for over the yrs.
This book is useful for studies in specific women within the context of the OT and how they both reacted to a "God event" in their lives, as well as how their participation in the event helps shape the context and story of the OT
We used this simple Bible study book with a dozen women who were not familiar with the Bible. The author reviews several different women of the Old Testament - their strengths and weaknesses - and challenges the readers to apply lessons learned. The lessons are short - 2/3 pages of small fill in the blanks - and can be presented and discussed in a 1 1/2 hour period. I will use more of these studies in the future. Good for all Christian or seeking women.
This was a gift for my Aunt who is a minister, she said it made her think about her using her words more carefully.
Each lesson in this book, designed for 60-minute studies, is thorough, yet concise. It is great for a small group Bible study in which the leader facilitates discussion. Questions with scripture references guide the participants as they prepare each week. Especially for the leader are tips for success, as well as answers to key questions, in the back of the book. The women are sometimes lesser-known individuals who did powerful things to aid God's kingdom. Our group studied the book in two six-week segments. It is a powerful little book by Gladys Hunt.
