I purchased this book for the Babies Room at my church. It's sturdy and easy to wipe off after a child has looked at it-sanitary purposes. It has cute pictures that you sing along to when reading it to the babies. They all seem to like it.
I have four children and we read this book so much that we actually wore it out. I'm ready to buy another one for my fourth child to enjoy!
I love to use these type of books as baby shower gifts. I make diaper cakes and this book is the perfect size to fit as one of the items for the baby. The story, the pictures, the thick pages are ALL perfect!!! I have bought several of these!!! What a GREAT BOOK!!!
THIS IS A DARLING LITTLE BOOK FOR A CHILD WHO HAS HAD NO PREVIOUS TRAINING ABOUT JESUS.1. I A AM VERY GRATEFUL TO THE FIRST REVIEWER WHO WENT TO THE TROUBLE TO WRITE OUT ALL THE LYRICS.A. IT SIMPLIFIED BUYING FOR ME SO I DID NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH 10-100 BOOKS FIGURING OUT JUST EXACTLY WHAT THE RIGHT ONE WAS FOR THE LITTLE BOY I WAS BUYING THIS FORB. I WANTED ONLY TO INTRODUCE HIM TO THE LOVE OF JESUS AND NOT TRY TO OVERWHELM HIM WITH THE BIBLE. HE IS ONLY 4.2. I BOUGHT THE BOOK IN THE SING BOARD VERSION. IT HAS BEEN MANY A YEAR SINCE I BOUGHT A BOOK FOR A CHILD SO YOUNG, AND I WAS NOT CERTAIN WHAT A SING BOARD VERSION WAS.....IT IS THE HARD BOOK MADE OF CARDBOARD PAGES THAT YOU WOULD NORMALLY BUY FOR A YOUNGER CHILD 1 OR 2 AS OPPOSED TO 4.3. BUT I HAD MY RATIONALE: THE YOUNG CHILD'S FATHER WAS RAISED AS A JEHOVAH'S WITNESS AND HAS LOTS OF CONFUSION IN HIS HEAD ABOUT JESUS AND THE WHOLE BIBLE THING. SO I WANTED A BOOK, THAT THE YOUNGSTER COULD CRAWL INTO BED WITH (NOT SO DUMB, I BOUGHT HIM A BIG FIRE ENGINE TO GO WITH IT...THE BED MAY BE FULL, BUT THE JOB WILL GET DONE...TRUST THE HOLY SPIRIT)4. ONCE BEDDED DOWN AND HAVING BEEN READ TO, HAD A DRINK OF WATER, GONE TO THE BATHROOM ANOTHER TIME ETC ETC, LITTLE CHILDREN USUALLY LAY IN BED FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES WHILE GOING TO SLEEP. I WANT HIM TO BE ABLE TO CLUTCH ONTO THIS BOOK AND SING TO HIMSELF AFTER DADDY LEAVES. THE MOM IS NOT INTERESTED AND ABANDONED THE TWOSOME, SO THIS LITTLE BOY NEEDS TO KNOW "JESUS LOVES ME THIS I KNOW"5. THEN THERE IS SOMEONE BESIDES DAD AND THE MYSTERIOUS PRESENT LADY TO FILL THE VOID WHEN HE IS HURT AND CONFUSED.6. I WOULD APPRECIATE PRAYERS FOR HIM...NAME NOT GIVEN...GOD WILL KNOWSO I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY CHOICE OF BOOKS, TRUSTING THAT IT WILL BE CLUTCHED TO DEATH AND THE PRAYERS OF THE FAMILY ARE GUIDING THIS YOUNG CHILD AND HIS FATHER. My daughter was just over a year old when I got this for her, and she loves it! The verses are original, and some seem trivial in focus (Jesus loves me when I take a bath or eat my breakfast). But the original tune is addictive and this gives verses younger kids associate with more (versus the traditional song). Some nights my daughter brings this to me and wants it read. Many times it was the only book that would console her when she was crying. The drawings are cute and it is easy to memorize everything for when you don't have the book on-hand.
We've enjoyed this book for years! We moved and left it in storage and missed reading it, and we finally ordered a new one because it's such a good book and such a good price! We can eventually give away the extra one with assurance that it will be used!
I think this book is ok, it is not that easy to sing the whole thing because only the first page and last page are actually to the song. It feels like it goes on too long in between without a chorus. But, if you are not into singing and just want to read it in general, it is a great option for you!
