This book is a great resource to get individuals to think about letting the change that is happening in them flow out into their daily lives. As far as the small group DVD and CD there are parts that are helpful but the groups might as well just go through the questions in the book rather than put the extra money into small group kits.
I purchased this curriculum to use with an adult (ages 50-70s) small group a few weeks ago. So far its been effective at stimulating deep thoughts, going beyond simply scratching the surface to answer the question, "What is evangelism and how can I tell others about Jesus?" I've actually been amazed at how much the adults in the small group are latching onto the curriculum, going above and beyond the daily readings in most cases.The fact the curriculum runs five weeks may leave something to be desired at the conclusion of the course, but I know that the daily reading (well, 5 readings/week) and the follow-up questions after each reading and at the end of each week keep each participant engaged, invested, and excited about the study.So to summarize, I've been pleasantly surprised at the quality of the curriculum. I'd definitely recommend it for use in small group settings with adults. I wouldn't use it with anyone younger than juniors and seniors in high school, though, because the readings and discussions take some necessary life experience and thinking abilities that younger ages don't (usually) possess yet.The only reason I wouldn't give this curriculum a 5-star rating is its lack of deep theological content. I work for a Lutheran church and we have a rich history of deep theology and theological pursuit and the book and DVD simply do not use much depth in that area. It's more a focus on sociology--which for evangelism is definitely a positive, but nonetheless it leaves a piece to be desired.
We are actually using this book & DVD for a Sunday School class & it is really good. We have approximately 26 couples in our class. The book is set up for 5 weeks; however, our SS class will run for 12 weeks. We only have 30 min., so we break up each session into two lessons. Works Wonderfully! We also have great discussions each week.
