Love the art! Love the story about la lagartija heroina! My daughter is in kinder and i was worried that it might be too long- not a problem! She loves it, and likes to ask me about the pictures. Very happy with this purchase!
I'm a 4th grade teacher and use this book every year to teach writing in the my classroom, especially during our response to literature unit. I like it also because it is translated and the images are really engaging.
I had a copy of this book when I was younger, around 4 years of age and all I can say is that it is, by far, my favorite book of all time. With this book, my dad taught me how to read and write in Spanish. I highly recommend this book.
I bought this book to tell the story in my spanish children's lit class. I really like the illustrations in this book, as well as the length. Oftentimes, children's books have no substance, but this one has a reasonable length. The translation is great too.
Wonderful retelling of a lesser known Hispanic folktale. The Illustrations are beautifully done and add flavor to the story. Also loved the fact that the lizard is a "she."
I have read this with five of my kindergarten classes as we learned about the various arts and traditions of Mexico. The story is nice, but the writing is clunky and I keep wanting a more effective storyteller to offer a new version. Additionally, the binding is so poorly made, that after reading the book seven or eight times it already looks years old and is falling apart.
