My soon to be 8 year old (2nd grader) loves these books. I have never seen him just sit and read books like this. The words that are used are great for early readers and the pictures make the book even more enjoyable. Keep them coming....
The only bad thing with these books is they don't come out with them fast enough - the writer needs to write faster! My son has read each book so far about 20 times and anticipates for the next release!
My 8 yr old absolutely loves all the Notebook of Doom books! He was never a big reader, but he flies through these. They're probably a little easy for an 8 yr old, but I'm just happy he's enjoying reading!
I ordered these books for my son for Christmas. They arrived well packaged and undamaged. Fast shipping which was nice. He loves these books! I have not read them but our son read one to my husband and he said they were really fun books. Our son is 9 and hates to read! He is an excellent reader but would rather play video games all day if we would let him. For him to ask for the whole set and to see him re-reading the ones from school tells me they must be pretty awesome books.
Our 8 year old son loves this series! He's read each of the books multiple times! We have struggled to find books that he wants to read, but this series did the trick! It's perfect for early elementary, just enough action and adventure without being snarky or scary. (Actually all of the "Branches" books have proved to be great at helping his confidence in reading and this his love for it!)
My 8-year-old prefers the demon video-games when he's indoors (but he does go outside and play quite a bit). The Notebook of Doom series got him really into reading. He can't wait till the new books are published.
This is a great series for our beginning chapter readers. My son who is 8 loves the series and is already counting down for the next adventure. He loves the idea of a secret club. Fun!
It's so much easier finding books girls will read. Boys don't always have the attention span to just sit and read. That being said, my son loves this book. It's funny and entertaining, just enough words for him to read without being overwhelmed by pages of type. Most of the time, we read together, but he has read this on his own. I'd recommend this book for 3rd grade, maybe earlier depending on reading level. My son has read the series at the school library, couldn't wait for this one to come out.
