This is a great resource for educators, parents, and adults that work with any and all children. I am a Boy Scout Adult Leader, and a Youth Group Adult Volunteer at my church. The observations Dr. Mac shares, and his techniques are spot on, and very helpfull. I put them to use immediately.
LOVE the website from which we can reproduce the forms; book/author has great examples and utilizes great language for/when working with kids. I'm a recipient of his e-newsletters as well and he cracks me up as much as he informs!
I'm only rating it 4 because he doesn't want to sit and read it with me. He is 10 and very active and fidgety so he needs something with pictures to try to entice him to read it. But I read it and talk to him about it.
I got this book for my son who is 5 and having some trouble in Kindergarten. There are some helpful tips and I like that there are charts/goal sheets that you can photo copy and use. Some of the information may be a bit better suited for slightly older children (maybe 8 yrs old or older), but I pick and choose the topics that my son can understand and use.
So far so good. Great insights. I am working with a child that has Sensory Integration Issue. This book is a well spoken guide for a parent or teacher that would work closely with a child. Looking forward to other resources from his author
I can not say enough positive things about this book. My son is older than the target audience but is underdeveloped emotionally & has already benefited greatly from this book and we've only hit Chapter 3 so far! I will update when we're father in but I just can not get over how amazing this is because I've even come across ideas I have shared with him before but apparently he didn't give them merit because they came from mom, but the book is legit. HA!
Great, straightforward talk for kids with tips for change and improvement. I'm going to be using this for a school group I run as a psychologist.
