I like anything to do with Tea Cakes. My Grandmother and her two sisters made them. This is an interesting and entertaining story about something that is a dear memory in my heart and mind. I strongly recommend to read to your Grandchildren.
Through Grandma Honey's golden tea cakes, Tosh learned about her great-great-great-great-grandma, who was a slave. Tosh made the tea cakes with butter, sugar, vanilla extract, eggs, flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon and gave them to her grandma Honey. Tea cakes are going to be baked from generation to generation. This is a heartwarming story.
Absolutely loved this book! It brought back memories of when I made tea cakes with my grandmother. Now my 8 year old has made plans to make some with my mom, her Grandmom. The grandmom's lost of memory story was very touching. My 8 year old wanted to re- read this several times.

This is a beautifully illustrated story about a young boy dealing with his grandmother's aging and dementia. It addresses the boy's confusion about his grandmother's lapses in memory in a very caring way and at the same time gives a wonderfully personal history lesson about slavery life.
