I am a homeschooling mother of 5. I have used different variations of the "Complete Book of" Series. It can be used as a great curriculum for grades K-3 or as a great supplemental to curriculums.
I think this book is absolutely perfect. It thoroughly covers both concepts. I am currently using this and The Complete Book of Math (Grades 1-2) with great success as stand-alone resources. They do overlap some, but I don't mind that at all at all. A few catchy You Tube videos about coin values have also proven to be perfect for cementing the concepts!I love that the pages are bright and cheery and rarely have too many problems. My son seems to truly enjoy them and never seems overwhelmed. We can do 2 or 3 double-sided sheets in one sitting.I plan to go through the book, using only the materials we need to gain a good understanding of each concept. There will inevitably be plenty of pages leftover for review and reinforcement in the coming year.This book (and the rest in the series) would also be great for a struggling learner than needs lots of practice. There are numerous pages for each concept.I highly recommend this book as well as the Complete Book of Math. Each are a great deal, considering you will use them for at least 2 grade levels!
Thorough review of both time and money concepts. Starts with easy concepts and works up to harder concepts. Lots of pages that are well laid out and fun for the child to use to learn. Workbook is huge and a good value. Highly recommended.
My 8 year old son was struggling with Time. This workbook is very colorful, makes learning about time fun and easy. The step by step instructions have helped my son learn to tell time with ease. We have not started the Money part yet, but I think it will be equally great.
I've used many other books in the "Complete Book" series, and have found all of them to be well-conceived with high-interest activities that engage students' interest. I've used many of the books with my now 7-year-old and she loves working on these books. This Time and Money book is no different - the activities are geared for students Grades K-3 and focus specifically on concepts of time and money.The activities start off with basic practices covering time (like indicating where the hour and minutes hand go) and also money (such as identifying the different values of the coins and how much would be needed to purchase a certain object/s). The practices get incrementally more complex and difficult, paced appropriately for a particular student's level. I found this to be useful as it helped my daughter revise some of the basic concepts (serving as a refresher course) before moving on to more challenging questions. I highly recommend this series!
This is a good practice book. However like most books, I feel it spends a little too much time on the early concepts and has to rush too much through the later concepts. It's a good book overall and my little guy enjoys it :)
This book is fantastic! It deals with telling time down to five minute increments and with money to the cent. I like how it starts by teaching telling time to the hour, then the next section deals with time to the half hour, the following section deals with time to the 15 minute increment and the fourth section deals with time to the 5 minute increment. Following those is a section that is a review of time telling that also contains word problems.The pages are in color and there aren't an excessive number of problems per page (though the book is HUGE, so you won't have any shortage of practice problems for your child!). I was looking for a book to use to help my kids with telling time, and this is simply excellent. The poster it contains is in color and shows coins and dollars and how much they're worth. There's also a page of stickers in the middle of the book (your typical "great job!" type stickers, funny looking animals, stars, etc.).
My 4th grader needs a little extra review on time and money, mainly time. These don't look all that hard but still, I think it's helping him. Thick book with examples, clear instructions, progresses logically, plenty of practice. Not just black and white. Has some color to make it more interesting and easier to recognize the coins.
