This fantastic graphic novel of sorts illustrates, quite literally, the obstacles constructed within the art scene to be placed in front of female artists. An amazing, inspiring, infuriating, and enlightening work.
The illustrations were brilliant, and somewhere between knowing this story needed to be told, and not wanting to read it, I was left annoyed to find the glib, narcissistic murder of a female artist, and the concentric opinion that women are generally meant to overcome obstacles in order to please men absolutely disgusting. Even worse, perhaps, was turning the story into a cartoon, no matter how exceptional the drawings are, that left me questioning the intentions of the authors.
