I have been looking for animal atlas or encyclopedia for a while. I decided to get this one for my kids for Chirstmas, and I love it and so do they. It has great pictures, big format and the animals are listed according to the continents they live in. There are continents maps with the animals pictures as well. It is easy to work with. My daughter always asked what animals lived in Africa, now she is able to find it our all by herself with this book.

I bought this book for my daughter from her school book fair. I refuse to buy a book that she will read and it will sit on the shelf so I told her it had to be something that can be looked at again and again- a 'reference' book. I was so surprised by how much she LOVED this book. She was 6 1/2 at the time and it became our nightly ritual reading about a certain animal in a certain region. She loved counting the animals on each page and continues to look back at the book, knows the continents and the animals that live in each continent. Pictures are great!

I was pleasantly surprised at the size and quality of this book! Definitely gift quality and "coffee table" gorgeous! My granddaughter will love it! Just discovered NatGeo Kids through a NatGeo Kids magazine I ran into a few weeks ago. Within days she had it dogeared & worn & carried it everywhere with her. I picked her up from school one day & she was busy explaining one of the articles to the principal! The phenomenal photography you would expect from National Geographic & quick facts geared to the kinds of questions kids ask about animals.

I purchased this for our homeschool project for next year, we are going to be learning about different countries around the world. The book is gorgeous with amazing graphics. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't more detailed and specific to countries. There's one or two animals featured for each continent. It's wonderful as a broad over view but if you want detail this isn't the book.

I bought this book along with the Little Kids First Big Book of...series of books. This is a great book, but my least favorite of the group. I like that it is broken down my continents and shows what animal live where, but I find the information not as relatable to my first grader as the information in the other books. She does love looking at this book and had favorite pages and does learn information. It's a great book, just not quite as great as the others.

This is a wonderful book. My 7-yr old granddaughter was fascinated by all the information. She prides herself on knowing all about animals, and this kept her busy reading. Love to watch kids soak up information:) Good pictures too!

I have always believed that ready with your kids is important so I buy a lot of books for my son. We bought several books in the National Geographic series and we love them all. They are packed with interesting facts and pictures. My son loves reading / looking at the books and we are happy that he is loving to read and learning at the same time. This book National Geographic Wild Animals Atlas is a book that is approx. 14 inches tall by 10 1/2 wide. It has many different areas to talk with your child about from different parts of the world, different climates, endangered animals, pictures and facts to learn. You can use this book to discuss a variety of information. My son also loves maps and there are several different types of maps in this book, giving us an opportunity to talk about how maps can be used to show us many different aspects, not just for directions. I am a happy mother and have a happy son so this is a win win for me.I hope my review has helped, if it has please push the button below. Thank you and God bless.

This version has an external envelop to the hardcovers. Put that on the hands of kids and it tears. Older versions of this book have the hardcovers actually printed. Images on the book are great although it's not as informative as the Usborne series.
