The New Unger's Bible Handbook is a wonderful resource tool. It is user friendly but also gives the more experienced Bible scholar indepth information and stimulating insights.I am more than pleased with my purchase and will probably add this to my gift giving list for Christmas.
The New Unger's Bible Handbook is absolutely wonderful. I have it on all of my computers as part of my Bible Explorer Library.. I was absolutely thrilled to find it available as a Kindle book so that I could download it to my Kindle Fire HDX 7 as well as my HTC One smartphone.I love the way the author breaks it down chapter by chapter (on the Bible Explorer you can view it beside the Bible and view the commentary right along with the chapter & verse of the Bible you happen to be reading). The entire handbook is very informative and the diagrams as well as photos are absolutely wonderful.This is an extremely useful Bible study tool, I wouldn't be without. I also have a hardcover version of this book and it is wonderful as well, besides being a wonderful verse by verse study tool, I could spend hours looking at the pictures and charts. It is very well done.So glad it is available as a Kindle book. Well worth the cost. Highly recommend!
My mom had been talking about this Handbook ever since someone recommended it to her. She asked me to find it online since in the store they wanted almost $40. The price was great on so i brought it for her and she loves it. Everyone she shows it to loves it and wants it for themselves. She finds it to be extremely helpful.
Bought one of these for my Father for Father's day(He is a Pastor) he loved it. I bought one for myself also and it is a good study book.
I used the old Unger's Bible Handbook for many years, in fact it was falling apart, bought this as a replacement, it is an improvement on an excellent fast resource for Bible study.
Dr. Unger himself was a brilliant and godly scholar. Though "the New Unger's Bible Dictionary" is a fine/valuable resource to have, this particular revised work (the Bible Handbook) would not be my first, second or even third choice when selecting a handbook. Rather, I would first look to "The MacArthur Bible Handbook", by John MacArthur; "Talk Thru the Bible", by Wilkinson & Boa; the "Bible Survey", by J. Lawrence Eason (1963); the "Holman Bible Handbook" (1992); or the "Halley's Bible Handbook" -- and in that order. Also, the massive tome, "Explore the Book", by J. Sidlow Baxter, should be in every Bible student's hands; it's an amplified Bible Handbook/Survey and full of information. Lastly, but certainly not least, I've found the two medium-sized paperback books, when combined, make for one great Bible Handbook. For the Old Testament, I suggest Paul Benware's "Old Testament Survey"; and for the N.T. I suggest D.A. Carson & Douglas Moo's, "Introducing the New Testament: A Short Guide to its History and Message". Both works are brief but highly practical and extremely helpful.
An excellent Bible study source. Helps in your understanding when used in accordance with the scriptures. Other excellent study sources are: Through the Bible with J. Vernon McGee -entire 5 book series; Manners and Customs of the Bible. With the Ungers and these you will gain a good understanding of the scriptures.
While I have not personally had the chance to examine the book myself, I gave this to my father, a retired minister, to review and he and my mom now wish to purchase a new one for themselves as well. He has been relying on his old, outdated Unger's handbook for many years now.
