This is the third volume of Dean Koontz graphic novels. See my reviews of the prior two in which I discuss Dean Koontz books generally, as well as Odd Thomas and these graphic novels. This is the first time that Landry Q. Walker worked with Dean Koontz on the series. It is a much better story and has more humor than the prior two volumes.Odd Thomas' friend asks him to help a movie producer who bought a house that seems to be haunted. However she feels that Odd and his pistol-packing girl friend Stoney Llewellen are just amateurs and unable to help her, even though, as we know, Odd has the ability to see the dead. She hires a team of three ghost-busters, three fakes, who perform nonsensical acts that add to the story's humor. Both adults and youngsters will enjoy this book and, hopefully, be inspired to read Koontz's full novels.
I love all the "Odd" books. I own all of them on the Kindle and in hardback. Dean Koontz, always comes up with great story lines for this character. It is wonderful to have such a "Good" character. I can't hardly wait for the next book.
The Odd series is something that I approached cautiously! I was worried that this was going to be where Dean Koontz was going to flop. He came up with a character that is likeable in "Odd". It turned out to be pretty good. I recommend this series to all Koontz fans.
good fun read... highly recommended. Great illustrations and fun storyline in keeping with Koontz's Odd series. Love the concept and would like to see and read more.
This was a fun and engaging prequel to the events of the first Odd Thomas novel. A great introduction to the character, these graphic novels are lighter in tone and scope that the novels, but they are no less interesting. In the graphic novels, we get a view of what came before and the backstory of Odd and Stormy. Great story with manga-esque art make House of Odd a fun and quick one-sitting read for readers who have followed Odd from the start to newbies who stumbled across the title while looking through graphic novel selections.House of Odd is a must for anyone who's been following the exploits of Odd Thomas and his cohorts, and a great intro for those who are new to the books. Don't miss it!
Odd Thomas is one of the best, most unique literary characters to come along in a long time, and I enjoy Queenie Chan's take on the character. I've enjoyed how the graphic novels, being set before the events in the first Odd Thomas novel, show Stormy alive, well, and kicking butt.
My 11 year old son fell in love with Odd Thomas because of the film (a must see- by the way) and decided that he wanted to know more. He read all three of these books and loved them. Great for any fan of Koontz and Odd Thomas.
I have read the novel type odd books and then ordered the graphic novels by mistake. I didn't care for the graphic novel as well as the regular novel. It made me feel like I was reading an Archie comic book like i did when i was younger. Not as interesting story line. Just different from the Dean Koontz Odd stories I'm use to.
