Very cute story. It follows the story of a basset hound who follows a stray calf and saves it by howling for help. It was definitely hard for my kindergartner. I would call this a "Difficult level 1". We bought it with the Aurora World Basset Hound plush as a first day of school gift.
I love these books written by the Pioneer Woman. Very nice stories for children. Plus an "I Can Read" book so that was an extra plus for me. With the free shipping via Prime, the total cost was fantastic for my budget!
First of all I want to be Ree in my next life. She is an all around entertaining lady, and so creative. Charlie is such a love able pup with so many fun adventures. Who wouldn't love a floppy eared Bassett hound who also loves bacon. Love, love, love..... Charlie and Ree!!!
This is a great hardcover I Can Read book featuring Charlie the Ranch Dog. It is actually authored by Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman and Diane deGroat. We've never read a Charlie the Ranch Dog book before but this one has become a hit with my family. The words are great for beginner readers and the story is short enough it is not overwhelming. It features a great illustration on each page and the story is silly. My kids are already asking for more Charlie books. Also, with it being hardcover it is extremely durable and great for passing down onto other readers!
We love Charlie the ranch dog at my house. He's full of himself, but always on the alert to protect his territory, unless it's nap time. Perfect for ages 3-8.
I ordered this for my grand daughter's birthday. She has other Charlie books and loves them all. This is a delightful addition to her collection.
My 4-year old Grandson loves the books! It makes it really special because he has a Basset hound named Winston! Beautiful & fun bedtime stories!
