I just received this today as a gift from my 3 yr old daughter (via my wife on this account). Beautiful illustrations and text. The only issue with it is I am incapable of reading it to my daughter without crying like a baby. Hopefully by the 5th or 6th reading I will be able to finish it. So much for my macho image.
Karen Kingsbury's newest children's book Always Daddy's Princess is about how a daughter is not only a princess to her daddy when she is little, but through her entire life. This story follows the daughter from birth to having a child of her own and her father's involvement in all of the areas of her life.Each page of the story has cute illustrations. There is also a lot of pink, which should make many little girls happy. I think many girls will enjoy having this story read to them as they look at the cute photos.In addition to the illustrations, there is a scripture verse on almost every 2 page spread. I thought this added something extra to the book that I don't think you find in a lot of children's books.I think the story is a great reminder to fathers to make sure they are involved in the lives of their children. I liked seeing the father at the sideline of his daughters game, on the night of prom taking a photo of her in her dress, and even with his daughter and his grandchild. I liked seeing a father involved in the life of his child and seeing how he cherished his princess. Always Daddy's Princess was an enjoyable read. I liked some of Karen's other children's books better because of their messages, but Karen did a nice job with this story.I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions are my own.
I feel silly admitting this but this children's book got me all choked up and teary eyed. I also got the warm fuzzy feelings as my husband sat down with my daughter and read this sweet story to her. Our children do grow up to fast and one thing my husband and I have discussed is the important role he has as a father to show our daughter love and how she should be treated. This book is great for every daddy. Father's day is fast approaching in June so pick this book up today for your daughter and husband to create a special bond together.The book also reminded me of "Love you Forever." Both parents in the stories share a memory of their child growing up which hits home because my 5 year old is already getting so big.My daughter seemed to enjoy her daddy reading her a story but also enjoyed the bright pink and purple colors and all the sparkly pages. She also liked the rhyming.
I bought this for Fathers Day for my husband. It's a cute book that follows a dad through the life of his daughter. He mentions that one day she'll be concerned about boys (referring to her in her teens), and Im not sure I liked that. I hate to be a stickler, but we try to steer away from the whole boyfriend talk and marrying people, as my daughter is only 4. Also on each page, there's a bible verse. And it's very subtle, but maybe I missed that in the description...as my husband is Muslim and I am Jewish. hahaha. But it didnt bother us too much, just something to note. The book was cute, I still cried in the end.
Was hesitant to get this book bc wasn't sure what it was. It's so great. The story of a dad and his little girl from her birth to the birth of her child. It reads well with rhyming and the pictures are colorful. Can't wait to have our little girl give it to my husband on Father's Day.
What a delightful book Karen Kingsbury has written. Takes the Princess from birth into the future, but she'll always be Daddy's little girl. A gift for my son who will be having his first child later this year. I love all theKaren Kingsbury books, but this one is special
This is such a great book to read to your little girl. It makes me tear up a little each time me or my husband read it to our daughter. Karen Kingsbury is a marvelous, talented and blessed writer. I recommend reading all of her books.
Almost IMPOSSIBLE to read this to my 3 year old daughter and not get teary eyed. If you have yourself a mini-princess--go ahead and click "Buy". I'm quite certain you'll find this book to be a worthy investment of 3 minutes.
