There is nothing like the transformation that comes through this program. I've worked through and have led step studies, and can testify that bringing God's power into the process makes new people of those who had lost hope.
For those in recovery looking for something much more substantial than AA (or any other group of kind), this is it. Christ and Biblical centered, these study guides used in a group setting really begins to get to the core of our compulsions and puts us in touch with our reasons for compulsion and enhances our self-esteem. In my opinion, this program far exceeds the other programs by utilizing group sharing and the dynamics that come from that and multiple accountability partners that help guide us through the program. I definitely and highly recommend the program and these guides.
I got this because I had gotten such good feedback from others who had gone through the course. However, most of the guidelines, suggestions, questions and discussion relate to addictions to alcohol or drugs. I thought it would also help with domestic violence victims, unfortunately it doesn't sound as if it will work for that.
I purchased these on because they were priced cheaper than what my church was selling them for. I love these books for taking people through the 12-steps because everything is neatly packed into 4 books. No need to be carrying around folders of loose paper and notebooks of scribblings and thoughts. Each book contains the serenity prayer (full length), the CR principles and the 12 steps, and guidelines. Each chapter starts with the step/principle being addressed and explains that step using bible verses and an acrostic for easy memorisation. All chapters end with questions to think and pray over as you look at your life and what you have been through and done.I've done my steps once already and am going through them a second time now and I love how simple and organised these books are. I love the questions they ask and the bible verses it uses.My only issue is that some of the bible verses come from bible translations that are rarely used or are just not the best translation, but if you are doing your step work with your bible with you, it's not a big problem. I find that most of the verses used I know already so I can read them as I know them (from the ESV or NIV translation) and it doesn't cause me any issue. But this really is only an issue for someone coming to the CR steps with foreknowledge of the bible as opposed to someone with limited or no biblical background.
Whether your a Christian or non Christian, or whatever faith you may be. This is an awesome series that will change your life forever!
When guided by a leader, this is the best Recovery Tool available! Not only will you learn your "triggers", but when sharing in a group, you will learn from each other. carries the best products and they always arrive quickly.
I bought this to go through and hope to be able to help get this program going in my church I think it would be awesome to help heal many broken people in my community. I went through part of the program a few years ago and would love to go through it again and finish it.
Am working through these books and finding I had more hang-ups that keep me distanced from others and Christ than I thought. I'm not presently in a Step program, but these participants' guides are thought provoking and healing in themselves. A+.
