The Ten Commandments (Arthur Pink Collection Book 53)
Ebooks Online

▶ DESCRIPTIONThe Ten Commandments of God have long held a unique and honored place in the hearts of God’s people. The moral degradation of our day has resulted not in a moral wasteland, but in the manifestations of moral depravity and social chaos. The Ten Commandments is an exposition of these timeless ordinances of God. Today it speaks powerfully with the authority of Scripture to call us to holy living with a sure moral compass.▶ CONTENTS1. Like most of what A.W. Pink wrote, this book is an excellent addition to anyone's library. In this thorough book, he devotes a chapter for each commandment, the whole time presenting each one in a way that is relevant to us. And, as an added "bonus" there is a chapter entitled "A Word To Parents." Parents need to teach their children the Ten Commandments as found in God's Word. It would help them to be better children, and they will grow up to be respectable citizens. Buy a copy for yourself and another copy to give away! You will not regret it! (I intended on giving this book 5 stars, but somehow it only shows 4...)

As one who reads a considerable amount of books on apologetics, theology and doctrine, I find it greatly beneficial to read Arthur W. Pink because of his great emphasis on the fear of the Lord and walking in holiness before Him. In our reading we should seek to be balanced, because too much emphasis on the academic in the Christian life can lead to, as the Apostle Paul states, to a knowledge that puffs up, and a walk that can easily be soft on sin (of course, the opposite emphasis also has its pitfalls). This is a brief exposition of the 10 Commandments, but it is full of rich and demanding truth. Pink does not look at the mere letter of the law, but he looks at the deep spiritual application of the "10 Words" as well. The most memorable chapters in this book to me, are the ones dealing with idolatry, adultery, bearing false witness and covetousness. How much idolatry is passed off as true worship today! How we bow down to man-made idols, both in the physical realm and in our imagination. How impure and lustful our heart can be, how we try to play with fire without getting burned. How easily our speech betrays us, and how slippery the slope of lying is. How often our covetousness hearts desire unlawful things, and unlawfully desire lawful things. I was deeply convicted from reading these chapters, and like looking in a mirror, I saw my deep sinfulness before a holy God. I'm sure any reader will find this book deeply challenging, as it will help you to love the Lord more, love others more, deny self and abhor sin more each day. Highly recommended.

I usually like things of this vintage. It seems though that the author too often uses the Biblical text as a springboard or a segway to something additional that He deemed important. I would more enjoy an exegetical approach to such an important section of scripture.

I found this book to be clear, true, and too the point. It is a short work and an easy read. I would recommend this especially to those who do not come from a Reformed perspective and yet would like a presentation of the Reformed view of the law. Not meaning that this book is not good for all peoples. It is not the most comprehensive book on the subject of the law I have seen by any means, but it is no weak work, and insightive at that.

I must express my enjoyment of this book. I have always wanted to study the 10 commandments in depth with simplicity for a layperson. This reading material is for all who have an interest and desire to understand the 10 commandments with out struggling.

Good little book on the ten commandments. We all need a refresher on then once in awhile to remind us how far away our culture has driven us from the Almighty....

Many are preaching an antinomian (against law) theology that is destroying the church today. A. W. Pink shows us in light of Scripture that we as Christians are to live by and teach others as well the 10 Commandments. "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:18-19)

Arthur Pink's books are just packed with the knowledge of a great Theologian.
