When a new hip cub moves into town everyone is amazed by her. They start dressing like her, acting like her etc etc. Sister is the only one who is not in the "in-crowed" what is she to do?This book teachs kids that you don't need to dress a certain way or act a certain way just to be liked.

I bought this book for my 7 year old daughter because I wanted her to read about how Sister Bear stood up for herself and didn't follow the crowd. I do think that this book is decent, but I feel that it missed the mark for showing and telling kids how to stand up for themselves. Queenie McBear was a new girl in town and was snotty, rude, and self-centered. I wish that the book would have demonstrated Sister Bear asserting herself and standing up to Queenie in a positive way instead of feeling bad that she was left out of the fun. Most kids would feel bad that they were singled out, but I feel that kids need to learn how to be confident, assertive, and happy with who they are. This book just didn't do it for me.

My daughter is in a preschool class that is already very clique-ish. I picked this book to help her see that it's not nice to be in a clique. The storyline was OK in accomplishing that, but still lacked what I was looking for. However, I haven't found a better one. It's especially hard to find books that teach kids that being the "cool kid" is not cool if you are excluding others. I think this IS the best I've found at dealing with that. Most of the books on bullying and excluding others are written for the bullied kid. My daughter IS one of the "cool kids" and I'm trying to teach her to include everyone. I'd like to find a storyline with a kid who stands up for other kids who are picked on and is therefore the "cool" kid because of his/her generous heart.

This book tells the story of sister bear when she meets a young cub that recently arrived to town. This new cub is a little annoying, and at first it makes sister sad.But she finally realizes that with self confidence, she can be herself, and have good times with her real friends. My 4 year old loves it.

My daugther has several of the Berenstain Bear books and she loves reading them. They have a positive message for children while keeping their attention. Even though she reads at a higher level, she still loves these books.

This book is helpful on two fronts. First, Sister learns what it means to be made fun of and excluded because she's not "cool" enough. After considering if she should change who she is to fit in, Sister ultimately embraces her personality rather than try to change it.Second, the bully realizes the error of her ways in some respects. So, it's great for parents and kids dealing with bullying from either end of the problem. Some of the illustrations are a bit dated -- Sister wants to wear a very '80s headband to fit in, at first -- but the message stands the test of time!

I think there's a very good reason that this book series has spanned decades and maintained popularity. It gives children the chance to think on their own and make their own choices for behaviors that carry over into their adult lives. Many of these issues will be ones that will persist through their lives, just on different levels of course.Even as an adult we will deal with peer pressure situations where we are out casted from people that were once our friends, or people we want to become our friends. I think sometimes it's good to go back to ideas like this book, naturally not quite as simplistic, but the principle is the same.

It tell that you should include everybody even if there little or look weired but if you are little you can outsmart them if you are really good at something . Like I play goalie and I am only 9 butt I am good.
