"One God, One Plan, One Life" is a one year devotional for teenagers written by Max Lucado. Each page is dated to keep the reader on track and the entire devotional for the day fits on that page. (It's very doable for the attention span of teenagers these days.) At the top of the page is a short Bible verse. Underneath that, there's a heading describing the theme of the day. Some examples of these themes are "A Changed Heart", "Spread the Good News" and "Honor Your Parents". There are a few paragraphs written about each theme and then "One More Thought" at the bottom of the page to get the reader thinking deeper, or to reinforce the point that is being made.I am a fan of this devotional and think it would be a great gift to give to the teens in your life. It would also make a great graduation present for a Middle school or High School graduate. The book is made with very high quality paper, printed in fun colors and has a really nice weight to it. For some reason the heavy weight of certain devotional books attract me , especially if I'm giving it as a gift. It feels substantial. There's an orange ribbon that will keep your place in the book so that's also a nice added touch. This is not in any way to ignore the high quality of what's written inside the book, but the name Max Lucado pretty much speaks for itself. This book is designed to be that ten or fifteen minutes at the start or end of the day, for your teen to take some quiet time with God. It's not incredibly complex, but that's not what it's meant to be. It's thoughtfully put together and very well made.
My first thought when I received this book was, " Wow! This is a nice devotional book." What makes it amazing? It is a hard cover book. Sturdy. Even has a book mark ribbon included.One God One Plan One Life by Max Lucado is geared toward teenagers and maybe even tweens. It's a 365 devotional book. It has awesome colors, lime green pages and orange on the insides of the hard covers. The title of this book is raised up a bit. I am impressed with just the way it looks.Max Lucado is a popular author who has written many books. I enjoy his devotional books and others that he has written. One of my favorite authors.These are daily devotions that start on January 1st. Most of the Bible verses are from the New King James Version of the Bible. When it's from a different version, it is noted after the Scripture address. Each day has a Bible verse written above the title of the day's post. Then there's the title, a short devotional and a section that's called One More Thought.Here's an example of this devotional from January 1st. Bible verse is " Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind." [Matthew 22:37 NCV]Title is: The Purpose of Life(First paragraph)"Dig deep enough in every heart and you'll find it: a longing for meaning, a quest for purpose. As surely as a child breathes, he will someday wonder, What is the purpose of my life?"(Last paragraph) "Shouldn't we face the truth instead? Our purpose is to love God. Nothing else will satisfy."One More Thought: "Your life is so confusing. There's so much to figure out. What to study? What are you good at? Why are you here? There is One who has the answers you seek, who knows your future. One God. One plan. One life.
