Great price to start the set. My son, 14 years old, loves to read but is a picky reader. He had asked for one of these books after his friend had one. I looked them up and this set of the first five were a much better value than buying separate. I am glad I bought them. He has been reading them everyday and really enjoys them. He comes to tell me about them all the time. He normally reads mostly manga, such as dragonball, attack on titan, etc... so I was glad he was reading these novels. He is on the third now I believe and will be wanting more.
This series has turned my third grader into a chapter book reader! He loved the first book so much, I bought him the series.My son loves that the dragons are the main characters with thoughts and feelings and they talk. This series has been very popular among his classmates at school. He was so excited about getting the series for a present that he has been bringing the boxset to school everyday.
My son is crazy about dragons so when he discovered these books he just HAD to have them. Nice boxed set comes with the first 5 books (which was good since he had bought the first one over the summer and trashed the cover since he read it so many times!). Great read for my 2nd grader.
my daughter loves these books, the different dragons their abilities are a constant source of creative play with her friends. she is a bit younger than the suggested age and I was worried about the battle scenes and such but she loves the stores so much and deals well with the slightly more mature material.
My son loves these books!! I should give it a one star because of the sleep disturbance it is causing him--up way too late reading with a flashlight when we think he is asleep--but who doesn't love when their kids love reading? I've even started the first one and haven't minded reading it.
My daughter can't get enough of these books and actually finished these five in less than three weeks while reading other books for school! I bought book 6 in paperback separately, hardcover book 7 loaned from the library, and "patiently" waiting for book 8 coming out in January 2016 (I think?).
My son got the first book in the serious from his library at school and really likes the books. He did a book report in the first book with a handmade puppet and got an A + +. I recommend this series if or have a 4th or 5th grader.
