I found this book extremely helpful for my beginners Torah Study. The language and content is clear and concise. It makes each section easy to follow and understand. Mr. Fields selected a variety of commmentaries giving the student-reader numerous points of view and choices. The reader is free to develop his own ideas about the portion reviewed.I would highly recommend this book for students first begining to study Torah.
This textbook provided me with a way to learn about the Torah. The text is simple enough to not intimidate a student who is seeking to understand the Torah from a Jewish standpoint and with enough depth to inspire further study. Studying the Torah adds to my study of the Christian Bible.
A basic book that utilizes Midrash and Talmud to give direction to a novice. The complete set is well worth the price.
Never panders to "easy reading," his choice of examples is excellent, his commentaries beg the attention.
