An impassioned appeal to us all to understand the nature of Sanctifying Grace, to preserve this incredible gift from God, and to grow in it each day for the rest of our lives. Explains how grace works, what are its effects, how to grow in grace, and the union with God that it allows us to achieve. Will amaze everyone! You will think of your life in terms of "before" and "after" having read this book!
Among the mysteries of Catholicism, none is more practically important than the doctrine of grace. It is at the very heart of Christianity because it describes the panorama of God's dealings with mankind. However the doctrine of grace is not simple, as may be seen from the sequence of errors in the understanding of grace seen along the path of the Church's history. In this wonderful book "The Glories of Divine Grace," Fr. Matthias J. Scheeben explains Divine Grace in a clear manner, far from the abstract treatises of other writers. It is written in a direct style that everyone can understand. He reminds us of the integral role grace plays in our daily lives and how a clear grasp of the basic principles of grace is useful, and may at times be indispensable, for directing oneself and others on the road to salvation.
The book was better than advertised; while claiming it as used, it was actually new! The book is 420 pages, and I have only had minimal time with it. Furthermore, I will probably use it as a reference book. I recently found a reference to it in Reverend-Doctor Joseph Iannuzzi's Doctoral Dissertation, entitled "The Gift of Living in the Divine Will in the Writings of Luisa Piccarreta", published by St. Andrew's Productions. The latter reference discusses how the Most Blessed Trinity is going to restore the Garden of Eden during this millenium, known as the Fiat of Sanctification. Since sancitification refers to the action of sanctifying grace in the soul, Fr. Scheeben's book will provide in-depth knowledge of the need for increasing grace, especially if one wants to live in the Divine Will, as Adam and Eve did before they fell from grace and were expelled from the Garden of Eden.
I never knew how wonderful and powerful GRACE was and I am trying hard not to waste any Grace that God so graciously bestows on me... This is a powerful and intriguing book on Grace that you will not regret reading!
An in-depth examination of the concept and reality of God's grace in our life. I had long forgotten my childhood catechesis of "actual" and "sanctifying" grace and I was overwhelmed by the "amazing" gift of grace that I had unknowingly received and are available from God. This book is filled with an enormous treasure-trove of these hidden glories that awaits the reader once they become aware. After reading, I found that I came back to it time and time again and each time my soul throbs with lasting joy.
