Move over The Odyssey, War and Peace, Moby Dick, The Rosetta Stone, Catcher in the Rye, Tom Sawyer and The Holy Bible; there's figuratively a new sheriff in town.And its name is My Dad's Best Day Fishing....Ever!Dan Paschen makes Billy Shakespeare look like a trashy romance novelist. He makes Ernie Hemingway look like a silly old drunk with a turtleneck sweater fetish. He makes Jane Austen look like whatever the less-good version of Jane Austen is.I can say, having a totally unbiased and impartible stance on the material, this book is one of the greatest literary works that has ever graced human history. I can't find the words to adequately describe the heights this work has achieved. There's only one man who could; and that man is Dan Paschen.I especially like the little blonde haired kid. He seems like a good guy.
Although I'm not a fisherman, this book brought back fond memories of those special moments I had with our children. Although the big events are important, it's those small moments that are the memory jewels. This book has them. The ending says it all.
This is a wonderful book for young children and for their parents and grandparents! The author captures the magic of those simple times of togetherness which resonate as much today as they did in previous generations. A treasure!!
