Just finished reading Freshman Phenom. Although I'm not a child, this book took me back to my sports-loving youth. I read through and enjoyed many sports fiction books for children and this fits perfectly into that mold. The characters are smart. The plot is realistic. The pace is fast. It's long enough to lose yourself and short enough to finish in a couple of hours.I would recommend this book to sports-minded youth and adults.
An exacting read for the sports enthusiast. You can feel the pressure on Will as he begins the football season. I've recommended already to many middle schools students--boys and girls.
Butler’s writing reminds me of author Joe Archibald and all of the really good sports fiction books I read growing up. I’d recommend this story to any young reader who loves football.
This book should be in every school library from middle school up. An interesting story with enough character development to keep readers engaged but wished for more details surrounding game days, perhaps sideline conversations between players or between coaches and players. Overall, a good and easy read.
This book is great for any reader from a young sports fan to someone in their late 90's. An inspiring story that leaves you itching for the second book
