I used this book with my second and third graders, but it would work even better with older students. The steps laid out by the narator on how to write a research report really set my students up for success in writing their own reports. I condensed it a little for the age of my students, but it did help them see what they needed to do to write a report. It especially helped that the narator was writing an animal report just as my students were, but the steps would work for any topics. This book is a very useful tool.
A great book for any age group. A guide to writing and research and how to write the reports so the students don't go off on tangents in their writing. Read this book to your students before giving them any writing assignments. It may save you the heartache of constantly writing the same comments on all their papers!!!
This is the absolute easiest book for a child to use! It gives step by step instructions and examples. It was colorful and informative and very kid friendly! It really gave my daughter a huge boost in her confidence in writing a research report. It is a great starter book for any young child.
My wife teaches 2nd grade and she loved this picture book. She is always looking for new books to use in her classroom.
Some good information. The pictures are great. Some of the research strategies I wouldn't use, but it's easy enough to skip those pages.
