I read a lot of historical romances with marriages of convenience. This is a modern day marriage of convenience and I have to say that it was really well done. I wasn't sure how the story could be developed but Leah Atwood has written a wonderful story of two people who have lost their spouses and have been friends for a long time. In order to help one another, Shep proposes a marriage of convenience to Lyndsey. You see the hurt that still is so near the surface for both of them with the loss of their previous spouses but a deep devotion to the commitment and vows that they've made to one another. I truly loved this story and recommend it. It is a shorter read at 172 pages but it in no way seems like it was rushed or not developed enough.
Such a feel good godly love story. Leah Atwood never disappoints. Shep and Lyndsey have each separately had a handful of sorrow and difficulty in their lives. Watching them work through it all with grace and trust is not only a feel good book but an uplifting one. As someone who has herself gone through widowhood with young children, I know you face deep difficulties including that of trusting the Father to get fyou rom point A to Point B. Lyndsey and Shep discover that together.
Once again Leah Atwood had me hooked from page one. Her characters are so real to life that I felt I could see each of the three main characters in the flesh. Life is hard by the yard, but by the inch, its a cinch. Leah took us through the story by the inch which kept me guessing how Shep would handle the outburst when he addressed behavior issues with his new son. Conflict happens in every relationship and the resolution was so realistic that I found myself shaking my head in agreement and understanding. Leah always delivers!!!
This was kind of like a modern day mail order story. Lyndsey and Shep have both been widowed. They were good friends and Shep tried everything he could to help Lyndsey but she was failing to support herself and her son. In the spur of the moment Shep proposes to Lyndsey and they agree to form a family. It's a marriage of convenience but God has a way of working things out.
When things were at their darkest, Lindsey finally allows Shep to help her. They have both suffered the tragic loss of a spouse. Neither believes they can love again. The story is a sweet journey of two broken people letting God show them how to love and trust again. This is the first book in a series, but it ends with a nice little bow as all good romances should!'
Lyndsey Allen lost the love of her life when Mark was killed by a drunk driver. She and Josh were having a hard time with finances and now her stove is not working. They went to church for their pot luck but she could not take hers because the oven was not working and her casserole did not bake. Josh let the cat out of the bag in front of Shep, and he told lyndsey he would stop by and fix it. While they were in a conversation he found out she was going to lose her house and he wanted to bring it up to date. He told her he proliferAte he would take care of her and Josh. This is a beautiful story and you will have to read the outcome for yourself. You will enjoy the way these two hurting people who are left behind by their first love react to each other when they let God lead them.
This book started with an interesting idea and held my attention throughout. However, some of the plot lines were predictable--which was disappointing. Excellent character development with compelling back stories. This series has great potential but I hope the unpredictable aspects that set it apart from similar books continues throughout the book and not in spurts. Leah Atwood is one of my favorites and I love that she is seeking to delve into new concepts.
I read Love in a Fix in one sitting. It captured my attention and entertained me. There were some events that I didn't see coming and an event that I anticipated that didn't happen. This story was interesting and not predictable. I want to read more by Leah Atwood, but I've read all of her books on . This is another good one! I'm waiting for her next book to be released. :)
