I enjoyed reading When Lightning Strikes! It's about a 24 yr old woman named Mia. She did drugs in college and got into a very bad car accident one night. After that, she rededicated her life to God. Now, she's a spunky history teacher with a few tattoos, who shares Christ with her friends. She goes to get a cross tattoo from a well known artist and they instantly click...but the tattoo artist is not a Christian. I found this story interesting, but as an FYI, there is references to bad language, sex, and drugs.
"When Lightening Strikes" is a well-paced romance novel that is fun but unforgettable. Having read another Brooke St. James novel, I was curious (and excited) to see what this one would hold. "When Lightning Strikes" is written in that similar writing style as "Another Shot," which I loved, and from the very beginning we are painted a vivid picture of the protagonist, Mia Porter. She is definitely well-rounded and an easy character to relate to. It's easy to get into the story, and it's easy to get invested in the storyline. I highly recommend this book for any romance lover.
What a delicious quirky way to share a love story. I'm not likely to be in the target demographic for Brooke St. James but I'm a fan. She wrote a completely fallible, human smart female lead. Might be one of the best contemporary Christian romances I've read in a long time.
Mia was told to go to have Patrick Mallory do her cross tattoo by her brother Kyle. She had no idea how her life would change after she met Patrick and what the next few weeks were going to be like. She even had to go back to have an arrow tattoo just so she could see him again. She even went back to the coffee shop with another man just to see if she can run into him. The only difference is he does not believe in Jesus like she does he is really an atheist and said he has read the bible all the way through, and also about other religions. I think you will like this story.
I.loved.this.book.This book was about two completely differnet people falling in love with eachother. At first it was about this girl (forgive me, but i forgot the names since its been a couple of months since i read it.) was alking to her brother and his wife, about getting a tattao.And to go to this famous guys tattao shop. Later, when she does get it he goes out to lunch with her. And they kick it off nicely. They get to have a few dates, but the guy didn't want anything serious. And she didn't wamt to date him for what he believes in. Okay i have to stop its killing me not to tell about the end of the story.
As a person of faith, I appreciated the pull to the person without faith, but resisting.The fact that she prayed for the person to whom she was attracted to find Christwas a great example. I love lightning as confirmation. Quick, but thoughtful read.
I totally adored this one! My only gripe about it is that it just wasn't long enough. I would've loved to have been immersed in Mia and Patrick's world for at least another 100 pages. Definitely one of my favorites of Brooke St. James!
I like this author even though I do not agree with her take on God. He does not cause tragedy pain and suffering. so far removed from the phrase God is love to tell someone they are going to hell for not believing in Christ. God is the judge of our life our whole life and no where in the bible is that his judgement he desires all to live and learn and love him as long as we live we have a chance to gain that by learning about him not by lightening strikes. Very flaky story that did not paint the God of the bible in a good light hope she can improve her perception.
