Lola Rose is a book by British novelist, Jacqueline Wilson, and is set in the mean-streets of London, England. It's a realistic fiction about a young girl called Jayni. One day Jayni's aggressively abusive father became even more violent when he found out that Jayni's mum had won the lottery and had, along with the rest of his family, been hiding it from him. Her mum then decided that she was no longer going to take the abuse, and ran away with Jayni and her brother Kenny. To keep their identity a secret they had to change their names. So sensitive, shy Jayni gradually becomes brave, grownup and glamorous `Lola Rose'. But things don't go as smoothly as planned. Lola Rose's mum goes into hospital and Lola rose has to be more grown up than she had ever anticipated.Although a bit depressing and bleak at times, this is still one of the best books I've read in a very long time. It will make you laugh and cry, and take you to a place you've never been before. It will make you think about what it would be like to be in her position. I really recommend this books to pre teens and teenagers. My only hesitation is that it is very similar to all Wilson's other books. They are all gritty and a bit gloomy and normally feature slightly `trashy' mothers, abusive fathers and London tower blocks. That said, it's an amazing read, and I'm sure it wont disappoint you.

when Jayni, her mum and Little brother Kenny have to run away from her dishonourable father because he hits them so much, thats when the adventure starts. Jayni and Kenny's mum wins $10.000 on a Lottery scratch and they slip out at night, go up to London by train and stay in a hotel. They make up false identities to protect their secret.Jayni becomes Lola Rose! But Lola Rose's new life isn't quit as wonderful as her new name. Her mum gets a job at a club, and gets a boyfriend and Lola Rose is not sure about the boys at school. I recommend this book to anyone! Get this interesting book and find out what happens next!

Did you know that Jacqueline Willson's books are the most famous, lovable books ever?It tells you about life and love. She is ever so nice.If you want to pick between Noel Streatfield and her, you will pick her. Not that I hate Noel! And I love Jayni. Everybody wants to be happy. But she was sad because her mom got dumped. And in the end they all lived happily ever after.I just love those fairytale endings, they make me want to cry. So this tale was like misery, but a big no no. I chose this book for kids about 12 years old.

it was a fantastic, real life, emotional book about a girl(Lola Rose),a mum and a little brother running away from a sharp tempered and abusive father.to keep their secret they make up fake identities and live off a lottery ticket.

Very touching ,a great read.i love the way Jayni (Lola Rose) . Is so strong and brave. I expected her to faint at so many points, but she stayed strong and Auntie Barbra sounds like a dream come true

When Jayni's abusive father finds out that her mom just won 10000 pounds in the lottery and discovers that they were attempting to hide it from her, he lashes out on her physically. After having enough, they decide to flee to London as they have a good pocket of cash supporting them. With new names and a fresh start, Lola Rose, formerly Jayni, is convinced that they can make it.But they can't hide from dad forever. One day, mom's had enough and calls dad.A captivating tale I couldn't put down.

I loved this book! It showed what a girl could be going through in real life. When she runs away from her dad she's scared. But with courage she realizes she can handle almost anything.
