I ordered several of these inexpensive fairytale books for The Toddler[The Princess and the Pea; The Ugly Duckling; Rapunzel] -- these are published by Parragon Books-- I seemed to remember the titles from my childhood and recalled fondly that I enjoyed the stories -- Well, I was underwhelmed with all of the them. The artwork is ok - the stories aren't quite as I remember them, but it has been a few years, so maybe I was more easily entertained 35 years ago -- although there seemed to be some semblance of the story I remember, every last one of them manages to disappoint in the end -- it could just be the way it is written or possibly for some legal reason they had to diverge from the original story slightly -- all in all, and I think the toddler would agree -- these were a Meh? Banished to the one time read shelf... ah well, win some, lose some.
All of the meat of the princess and the pea story was removed, leaving a shallow, uninteresting story about a girl who wants a husband. We don't need more stories like this. I read this to my 4 year old one time and will not be reading it to her again. Look for another version.
I read this book along with other versions of The Princess and the Pea. The children really like the size of this book which is large enough for the whole class to see when you hold it up. They also like the illustrations of the princess (which looks like a little girl) and the prince (which looks like a little boy). We read this version and others so we could compare the different stories. They like this one a lot.
Bought two of these. Both 3 year old granddaughters love princess anything. They giggle with delight with thisold fairy tale where the pea under the mattress keeps the guest wide awake. Cute illustrations.
Beautiful rendition of the Princess and the Pea. Lovely illustration and great form factor in the board book. I actually used this book as as decoration on a diaper cake for a baby shower with the theme of Storybook/Once Upon a Time.
Great product. I'm excited to give this to our baby (who will be 10 months at Christmas) for Christmas. It's sturdy, board book. The colors are mesmerizing. It's perfect. Thank you.
Fair as compared to other illustrators....But I was very disappointed that the book was SMALL...I thought the book was 8 X 10 !!!!
