This was one of my favorite childhood books and I was delighted to find it on . The illustrations are as stunning, vivid and eye catching as I remembered. I only gave it 4 stars because the actual book I received turned out to be an old library book (still with the label and everything) and I wasn't expecting that. The book, however, was in good condition. I bought this for my 19 month old son. I think its a little too mature for him just yet, but I think he'll love it when he gets a little older.
This is a really gloomy story, and the language is so simplified it looses its strength as a cautionary tale even. It seems kinda pointless. I'm sure there's a lot of tales that would have lend itself much better to this format
Beautiful artwork, one of my new favorite authors. I would recommend to buy, used it in a first grade classroom.
A favorite book that made a lasting impression on my son and led to meaningful conversation about it's meaning.
