To add insult to injury, Posey won't be able to wear her beloved, albeit ratty, pink tutu that she wears every single day. Her tutu gives her magical strength and Posey knows for certain it would give her the courage to face first grade.On a trip to town with Grandpa, Posey spies her new teacher, Miss Lee. Miss Lee notices Posey's tutu and comments on it, likening it to her own ratty pink sneakers that she loves to wear. When Posey suggests they wear them to school anyway, Miss Lee looks thoughtful. The next day an invitation arrives in the mail. Miss Lee has invited the class to wear their most comfortable clothing or costumes on the first day. They are going to have a First Grade Parade! Posey is honored and feeling much braver about attending school. Not only do they get to wear whatever makes them feel comfortable, Miss Lee is going to meet them outside! No big blue hallway to fear anymore.
