I love the Pippi Longstocking books-- love, love, love. Kids and adults both can enjoy them. I ordered this book hoping for something I hadn't read before, and discovered that it's just an excerpt from the first Pippi Longstocking book.The complete episode in the original book includes a battle of wits between Pippi and a cruel administrator. This excerpt only includes Pippi driving the poor teacher to distraction, and seems like an endorsement of teacher abuse, rather than the triumph of Pippi's generous spirit over a nasty, narrow-minded system. I'll have to throw it away-- I would never give it to any of the kids I know. I guess I'll have to just get them the whole original.
This is a marvelous way to introduce young readers to the fabulous world of Pippi Longstocking! The illustrations are delightful and the stories are rollicking and full of fun!
I sent this to my eight year old granddaughter who flew through her first Pipsi Longstocking book and loved it. I did not realize this was just one chapter taken from the original book. Please be aware what you are buying.
I read this to my six year old twins and it was a great introduction to the Pippi stories. It's a fun picture book that was not too long, making it a perfect bedtime story for young children. My little ones fell in love with Pippi, especially my son who thought she was wonderful and asked that I read the story several nights in a row. Fun illustrations and a humorous story, I look forward to sharing more of Lindgren's stories with my kids.
Oh my daughter really loves the Pippi Longstocking books! They were one of the first books we habe bought for her, back than she was just 1 year old if I recollect correctly, so normally way too young to understand whats going on, but they were nice for reading aloud.Now she is 4 and she starts to read them by herself, or we read them to her in the night.Goes to school might me just a short story, but as we had bought the Turtleback Edition, it means it will last way longer than most other children books we have bought any one thing is sure, all other books for our kids we will buy, will be Turtleback or something like it. The price difference from special bindings to hardcoder (if available) are so small, that you always should consider them oder the normal hardcover. You get what you paid for.Ours is still in very very good condition!
All of these books are 32 pages. The content is exactly one chapter from the original book. The wonderful thing is that the books are covered in wonderful pictures, the font is large and are therefore accessible to younger, advanced readers.
I did not realize this book was a complex picture book. It has colored pictures and a complex text. I was wanting the full chapter book version. While the book was fine it needs to say more detail of what it is you are getting.
This book is supper ! I love Pippi ! I have her Video and DVD. She is the smartest girl in the whole world ! When she got in shool she starts jumping on the desks ! Because she din't know what to do in shool. I really recomend it to buy this book.
