Like most Christians I was unaware of Mary's Divinely given ability to give Grace to all who ask. It is like finding a Heavenly Mother who wants to bestow blessings on all her earthly children who ask for her intercession. She is another Pearl of great price for her children on their spiritual journey. After reading, you will gain a new appreciation for our Holy Mother.
This is an excellent book on the Blessed Virgin Mary. We Catholic do not worship Mary but we do use her as the Mother of God "Jesus" to intervene for us. I highly recommend this book, in fact, any book written by St. Alphonsus de Liguori.
Catholics usually have a tough time defending their veneration of the Blessed Mother of God. In addition, many wonder why they should not just go directly to Jesus for Grace and prayer requests. Saint Alphonsus and the other Saints quoted in this book make it clear the role Mary plays and how we can best tap into her for help in our Spiritual lives.
I love this book very much. It helps me draw closer to Mama Mary. However, for those just starting to get to know Mama Mary, I highly recommend reading first the True Devotions by St Louis Montfort because it gives a good background knowledge about how one can place/differentiate the veneration given to Mama Mary and the worship due only to God. Once that part gets clear and firmly planted, it is no longer hard or confusing to grasp what St Alphonsus is trying to explain and it will be a great joy to read this! I highly recommend it!
One the best books I've read on Marian devotion, and still the measure by which all others are judged.. Saint Alponsus writes like Archbishop Sheen speaks--with an unmatched eloquence that complements the lofty subjects he writes about. Of all of the books I've read on this subject, this is perhaps my favorite... Still
I am reading it now, but he takes the Hail Holy Queen and speaks about each part of it. I realize even better now how much Mary wants us to be happy with her Son, how much she cares for each one of us, no matter how bad we have made our lives. A lot of these and thous but worth it.
A beautifully written little work. Very reverent. I use it sometimes for a daily devotion.
A very complete introduction to Our Blessed Mother. Recommended to anyone who would like to grow closer to her. Amen.
